This chunky chalk is made in Japan, with domestically produced food-grade magnesium carbonate as its primary ingredient. Through rigorous and repeated testing of binding agents and drying processes, along with continuous trial use and refinement, we have perfected this high-quality product.
This product achieves perfectly uniform hardness by incorporating eggshell powder, resulting in an optimal balance of firmness, moisture content, and superior friction performance.
This chalk delivers superior friction performance across all climbing conditions—requiring minimal application for optimal grip, while maintaining consistent hold characteristics on diverse rock surfaces and in variable weather.

GRASP Chunky's defining characteristic is its optimized moisture content—specifically the precise water-to-compound ratio engineered into its formulation.
A frequent inquiry we receive concerns the necessity of maintaining a solid form. This becomes readily understandable when recognizing the formulation's critical function of moisture encapsulation - the proprietary process that ensures optimal water retention within the chalk matrix.
During winter conditions when climbing holds and fingertips become excessively dry, GRASP Chunky's precisely calibrated moisture content prevents the undesirable "rebound effect" - requiring just the right amount of water retention in the chalk to maintain optimal friction performance.
However, the chalk's performance will be compromised if the moisture content is either excessive or insufficient. This raises the essential question: what is the precise optimal water ratio for maximum effectiveness?
Precisely calibrating the moisture content proved to be the most technically demanding aspect of GRASP Chunky's development process.
Through rigorous testing of multiple moisture content formulations and iterative refinement, we successfully identified the precise hydration parameters that optimize GRASP Chunky's performance
This prevents excessive skin dryness and enables optimal grip performance.
GRASP Chunky can be used as is, or blended with GRASP Regular Chalk to create your preferred moisture level.
Adjust the blend ratio according to your skin condition and the climbing surface. You may find it slightly firmer than other chunk chalks, but applying firm pressure with your fingertips allows it to penetrate deep into your fingerprints for superior grip.

Itadaki Series / Super Grip
The chalk's primary ingredient consists of approximately 99% magnesium carbonate.
Currently, nearly all domestically produced chalks circulating in the market utilize similar magnesium carbonate formulations. Manufacturers differentiate their products by adding approximately 1% specialized additives to enhance functionality before commercialization.
At GRASP, we too have meticulously experimented with how to optimize chalk performance through precisely formulated 1% additive compositions.
The base material consists of approximately 99% magnesium carbonate.
Returning to these fundamental principles, GRASP has meticulously selected a distinctive magnesium carbonate variant from numerous material properties, developing two powdered chalk products for our "Itadaki Series" through this rigorous selection process.
This Super Grip formulation builds upon the New Standard base, incorporating precisely calibrated additives to enhance performance.
We have successfully maximized the two fundamental chalk properties - "moisture absorption" and "grip enhancement" - to their ultimate potential. The formulation demonstrates exceptional performance during high-temperature conditions when perspiration increases, or when climbing surfaces contain excessive moisture.
The packaging design incorporates the imagery of Fujin, the Japanese wind deity.
